Abstract

This paper reports on some of the findings of a study of faculty at four community colleges in Ontario. A modified decomposed theory of planned behaviour (DTPB) was implemented as a theoretical framework and data collection was undertaken using a mixed-method approach in an effort to fully realize and categorize the factors necessary in a faculty decision to adopt digital technologies into their teaching practice. Faculty attitudes toward adoption of digital and Web technologies vary greatly in large part due to a number of motivating factors that were revealed through the study. This paper provides some understanding of college faculty attitudes toward the adoption of digital and Web technologies into their teaching and learning practices as well as those factors that may influence faculty attitudes toward adoption of those technologies into their practices.
